Top Flight was founded on the belief that there is goodness and amazing capability in all young men. Top Flight provides therapeutic tools and a structured educational environment where boys who have struggled in the past
are taught to value themselves as they excel and ultimately succeed. Our foundation and motto is built around helping troubled teenage boys soar with their strengths.Overview
Top Flight Academy helps troubled teenage boys, ages 13 to 17, take responsibility for their choices in a positive, self-esteem building atmosphere. Using Positive Peer Culture, our residential treatment program helps students pinpoint problems, recognize negative behaviors, and become empowered with the tools to turn destructive impulsivity into adaptive problem-solving behaviors.
Positive Peer Culture is a model of behavioral change used by small groups of peers to redirect negative thought processes. By eliminating negative emotions in problem solving, each boy builds his sense of confidence, allowing himself to feel worthy of praise and refocus on the satisfaction of productivity.
Because of the small number of students, Top Flight Academy offers each student a comprehensive education plan within a small classroom of peers, as well as intensive individual, family, and group therapy. The program also includes motivational experiential learning, flight training, community service, work, and a variety of recreational opportunities.
Academics
Classes at Top Flight Academy generally consist of 8 to 12 students, who are challenged, monitored, and guided on an individual basis. This positive, focused environment helps each student obtain academic success despite underlying issues or challenges.
Upon enrollment, students receive an academic assessment to determine their specific needs and requirements. Objectives and goals are outlined in a personalized education plan to help each student stay on grade level or meet graduation requirements. In some cases, students may also obtain college level credits.
At Top Flight Academy each student is able to learn at a pace that best suits his needs. As students progress in school, they gain a new outlook on life, greater confidence, and improvement in self-esteem.
